Our garden this year was beautiful. (Thank you Jason!) We had a pie shaped garden in the corner of the yard with curved beds. Our neighbor christened it the sun-ray garden. Sadly, due to a terrible grasshopper year our late plantings of greens, beets, beans etc. were nipped off as soon as they came up. The grasshoppers also decimated our new peach tree. The tomatos never really ripened until after we picked them and put them in the basement to save them from a killing frost, September 16th. We did get a bumper crop of basil, and put up about 25 cups of almond and walnut pestos. I made plum jam from our trees. The kids and I went to Blanding an picked buckets of apples and pears from the trees on campus. Jason and I picked peaches and pears under cover of night from a vacant house down the street. Next year - bigger garden, row covers, and Chickens!!

Your garden looks great and the pesto sounds delicious! You are getting chickens? How many?
